Phenonip Co-Preservative Blend is a trusted, effective liquid preservative designed to protect personal care products from bacteria, mold, and yeast. It is optimized for oil-based formulas that may come into contact with water during use, such as body scrubs and lotion bars, providing strong, long-lasting antimicrobial protection.
This mild and biodegradable preservative works across a broad pH range of 3.0 to 8.0, making it versatile for complex cosmetic formulations.
Important Usage & Safety Guidelines:
Temperature Parameters: For best results, slowly stir Phenonip into your liquid phase during the cool-down process at temperatures between 140°F to 155°F (60°C to 70°C).
Incompatibilities & Inactivators: Do not use with Polysorbate 20, Polysorbate 80, or Ceteareth-20, as these ingredients will neutralize its efficacy.
Application Restrictions: Approved only for external topical use. Not suitable for lip balms, lip glosses, oral care products, or internal mucous membrane remedies.
Recommended Usage Rate: 0.25% to 1.0% of the total formulation weight.
Note: Usage rates are guidelines. You should conduct independent microbiological testing on all new formulations to ensure proper preservation.
Additional Information
Solubility Limits: Phenonip is oil-soluble and only slightly soluble in water. For water-based formulations, a solubilizer is necessary to prevent separation.
"Paraben" Transparency: Phenonip is a paraben-based preservative.
Importance for "Dry" Scrubs: Without a preservative in oil-based scrubs, water introduced by wet fingers can lead to mold growth.
Storage and Handling: Store at room temperature in a tightly closed container, away from sunlight and freezing temperatures to maintain stability.
